Exercise – Your Main Way To Reduce Menopause Symptoms
The list of menopause symptoms is too long for most women. While not specifically proven to ward off any or all of them, according to the Mayo clinic, exercise can be a way to reduce many.
First, lets look at the benefits of exercise. Now don’t get crazy. I’m not talking about heading to the gym and cranking weights 24/7. Nor am I talking about running marathons. I’m talking about general, moderate, daily exercises to get you moving and your heart pumping strong for those crucial 20 minutes.
Here is a laundry list from many authoritative sources:
- Improve brain health
- Help manage weight
- Reduce risk of disease
- Increase ability to handle daily activities
- Strengthen bones and muscles
- Brighten your mood
- Reduce depression
- Reduce cortisol from the blood
- increased metabolism
Now, let’s have a look at some of the menopause symptoms:
- sleep problems
- mood changes
- weight gain
- slow metabolism
- irritability
Now, take a close look at those two lists. See any similarities…or opposites to be precise!
One of the easiest ways to start is walking. You can start off with a slow stroll and work your way up to a fast pace walk for at least 20 minutes so your heart rate can get going!
Try walking with a friend so you can have a positive chat! Don’t be negative while chatting as that will just lower your mood. Talk about positive things in your life and you will start seeing more of those things!
You can also do Pilates, tai chi, and yoga for great stretching and mental exercise.
Whatever you do, do it consistently and persistently. Take time for yourself EVERY day.
After all, you deserve it!
